Homework Help:  How will I know if my child has homework?
Good question!  Students in our classes use planners and weekly newsletters to keep track of homework.  Mrs. Buhner sends out a weekly newsletter each Tuesday.  Each student staples his/her newsletter into the planner right on the current week.  Students are encouraged to write any other 'Note to Self" kinds of items directly on the planner pages.  These notes might include club meeting dates, reminders to check Schoology, or personal goal statements.  Mr. Kimpan requires students to write homework each day directly on their planner pages.

Schoology is used by both teachers to list homework using the calendar function as well as store files, to include the weekly newsletters.

When in doubt about homework and due dates, check your child's planner and Schoology.  Still don't know?  Email us!  suzanne.buhner@vbschools.com or nicholas.kimpan@vbschools.com

"Not Your Mamma's Open House"
Dr. Hatten recently published an Edutopia blogpost (link to blogpost here) regarding creating the penultimate 21st century open house.  This year I will try many of the suggestions in the blog post.  I began by tagging (bribing) my children to assist me with videotaping a condensed version of open house.

I edited and published the video to my YouTube channel.  Here is the link:  Open House 2015  For those of you who cannot attend the open house on September 3rd, I hope you and your Dey student will gain some sense of how the year will be Casolare 4.  I am hoping all of you can use the video as a reference over the course of the year to assist in discussions regarding the classroom climate, learning opportunities and general overall impressions of the school year.

I also created a student handbook for you to reference.  Here is the link to the 2015 Student Handbook:  Student Handbook  I will add updates as they happen over the course of the year.  Please do refer to it as questions and concerns arise.

Between the video and student handbook, I hope I have addressed many of your initial concerns. Feedback is always welcome.  I will continue to add resources to this page as they are created!
